ALLA RICERCA DELLA COMPLESSITÀ DEL REALE
LATOUR E IL METODO DELLA SPECULAZIONE PRATICA
Camilla Zani
This article explores how Bruno Latour’s speculative method revitalizes philosophy by enabling a nuanced engagement with the complexities of reality, directly addressing contemporary political and ecological imperatives. It begins by examining Latour’s ethnographic studies of science, revealing the practical foundations of his approach. The analysis then transitions to a speculative dimension, tracing Latour’s intellectual lineage to William James’s radical empiricism. Through a synthesis of ethnographic methodology and radical empiricism, Latour proposes a reinterpretation of truth, advocating for its pluralization as a necessary response to the multifaceted nature of existence. This conceptual shift prompts a reevaluation of the modern notion of knowledge, fostering a relational and dynamic understanding of the real, where agency is distributed and truth emerges from situated practices.
