CRYSTAL AND PLASTIC: TWO DELEUZIAN CONCEPTUAL PERSONAE
Silvia Zanelli
In this article I propose the hypothesis that we can expand the Deleuzian notion of conceptual persona to the domain of the inorganic. Under this light I consider crystal and plastic as two opposite, but complementary conceptual personae, fundamental to Deleuze’s philosophy. In both the case of crystal and plastic, I will follow a theoretical path that bifurcates into two main directions: in my view crystal and plastic are not only meta-conceptual personae that epitomize the meaning of philosophy according to Deleuze, but also conceptual personae that convey to us an important topic for the Deleuzian thought, i.e. the individuation of materials, or how materiality matters.
