L’ENIGMA DEL REALE
LA “LOGICA” DI VATTIMO

Andrea Lucchini

This article aims to investigate the ethical-political relevance of Gianni Vattimo’s thought by examining how the problem of “reality” and its status takes shape within it. To do so, it will first outline Vattimo’s early theorization of the issue through his dialogue with Nietzsche and Heidegger, which began in the 1970s, highlighting how the immediate practical implications of such theoretical categories have always been a central point of interest. It will then explore the development of his ideas up to the 2010s, going also through Vattimo’s encounter with Christianism and the question of the victim. Ultimately it will seek to examine their intersections with some of the most significant critical perspectives that, in recent decades, have placed increasing emphasis on the implications of the crisis of the notion of “reality” from a symbolic (Baudrillard), psychoanalytic (Zizek), and social (Fisher) prospective.
