LO STILE COME ELEMENTO COSTITUTIVO DELL’ESPERIENZA
RIFLESSIONI DELEUZIANE IN DIALOGO CON MERLEAU-PONTY
Fabiana Grazioli
This article aims to demonstrate that the concept of ‘style’ is not merely essential to the overall aesthetic experience but also fundamental to philosophical reflection. Contrary to being exclusively associated with the art world, style transcends mere rhetoric or sophistry. Employing Deleuzian singularity, Merleau-Ponty’s perceptual phenomenology, along with insights of Dilthey and Valéry, this study concludes that style is a foundational element of the aesthetic experience. Nevertheless, this concept requires to be re-evaluated, since it is inherently relational and functional to the discovery or rediscovery of novel ways of ‘knowing’, aligning with the model of an extended and complex mind. In this perspective, future research could investigate the intersections between human and non-human interactions and the role of aesthetics in the digital realm. This reflection is particularly pertinent when considering that style may no longer hold the same epistemological significance as it did in traditional contexts.
